Dosym Satpayev's film "Nomads of the Dead Steppe", dedicated to the theme of hunger of the 30s.
The famine in Kazakhstan in 1932-1933 was caused by the policy of the destruction of the kulaks and collectivization in Soviet times. According to scientists in those years, the Kazakh people lost almost 70% of population. Filming of "Nomads of the Dead Steppe" took place in Russia, France and the United States.
