Today, a complete ban on wheat imports came into force

The ban will be in effect until December 31, 2024, on the import of wheat by all types of transport into the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan from third countries and from the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union, World of NAN reports with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture.

At the same time, the transit of wheat through the territory of the Republic of Kazakhstan will be allowed. The order came into force on August 21.

This measure was introduced to support domestic grain producers. According to statistics, according to the results of the first half of this year, wheat imports amounted to 1.3 million tons, which is almost the annual volume of imports in 2023, while the domestic market of Kazakhstan has sufficient reserves of wheat from last year's harvest (4 million tons as of July 1).
