China needs grain supplies from Kazakhstan on a permanent basis

Agriculture Minister Aidarbek Saparov held a meeting with Wang Jianjun, Director of the Department of Economy and Trade of the National Development and Reform Committee of the People's Republic of China, World of NAN reports with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture.

In January-June 2024, the trade turnover of agricultural products between Kazakhstan and China amounted to $648.1 million, of which exports amounted to $460 million and imports amounted to $188 million.

"The Chinese market is of great interest for the export of Kazakhstan's agricultural products, in particular, grain. As a result of the agreements reached between the Heads of our states, there is an instruction to increase the volume of grain exports to 2 million tons. We are ready to supply 3 million tons of grain and, in general, create all the conditions for bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in this area," the Minister emphasized.

In turn, Wang Jianjun noted that the main purpose of the delegation's visit to Kazakhstan is to hold negotiations on the use of the potential between Kazakhstan and China in grain trade.

"Kazakhstan is a strategic partner and a major supplier of grain. We intend to determine the volume of imports and would like supplies to be carried out on a permanent basis," Wang Jianjun said.

Currently, Kazakhstan has signed protocols with China on the export of 28 types of crop and livestock products to the Chinese market.
