19 groups of cattle thieves detained by police

The Ministry of Internal Affairs carried out operational and preventive measure "Skotorad" involving more than three thousand police officers and more than 200 specialists of the departments of agriculture and veterinary control, reports World of NAN with reference to polisia.kz.

During the four days of operation 11 695 vehicles were checked which transported livestock and meat products, 4 226 places of purchase and sale of livestock and meat products were worked out, as well as 8 708 farms.

At the same time 22 thefts of cattle and 115 earlier crimes were uncovered. For their commission 136 persons, including 19 groups, were detained. 589 agricultural animals were found and returned to their legal owners.

In addition, 864 offences in the field of veterinary medicine were detected, namely transportation and sale of livestock and meat products without proper documents.

Recall that cattle theft, according to the Criminal Code, is punishable by up to 12 years in prison.
