25 tons of watermelons harvested by farmers thanks to drip irrigation

Watermelons are ripe in Zhetysay district. 25 tons of watermelons were harvested in the village of Zhemisti in rural Atameken county and are being prepared for export to Russia, World of NAN reports referring to the press service of the Akim.

The gourds were grown by drip irrigation.

"Drip irrigation is very advantageous. Every year I sow six thousand holes, using the new method this year there were eight thousand holes. It allows you to get a rich harvest," says the chairman of the farm "Atymtai" Atymtai Omarov.

Another advantage of drip irrigation is that it takes 5-6 times less fertilizer. That is, there is less manual work. The variety of watermelon "Dolby", ripening in 60-65 days, was sown in the fields in April.

"Now we are negotiating the price, we plan to send more than 25 tons of watermelons," - said the head of the farm.

Watermelons will be delivered to Russia within one or two days. To note, this year in Zhetysay region 17 thousand hectares of melon crops were sown. According to the project to get 2-3 crops from one area 236 projects on 1100 hectares are being implemented.
