Uzbekistan became the leader in the purchase of Kazakhstani sunflower oil, where 58% of all export consignments of products in 2020/21 marketing years were delivered, World of NAN reports with reference to Apk-inform.
According to Kazakhstan's customs statistics, the volume of sunflower oil exports from Kazakhstan in 2020/21 MY reached 92,500 tons (excluding trade within the Customs Union), which was 18% less than the previous season.
In general, Uzbekistan increased purchases of oil from Kazakhstan by 30% to 53.6 thousand tons in the final season. At that, supplies of sunflower oil with high added value increased most significantly. In particular, purchases of refined oil increased by 89% and amounted to 21.5 thousand tons against 11.4 thousand tons at the end of 2019/20. In addition, the volume of supplies of packaged sunflower oil increased to 21.9 thousand tons (+19% compared to the indicator of 2019/20).
By estimates of analysts of IA "APK-Inform", approximately 120 thousand tons can be exported from Kazakhstan in 2021/22 MY, which is 30% more than the figure of the previous season. In this case, the Government of the country established a quota for the export of these products for the period from December 1, 2021 to July 1, 2022 in the amount of 110 thousand tons, adjustable depending on the market situation. In general, the established quota corresponds to the estimated export potential of this segment, but such restrictions increase the level of uncertainty and risks in working with key partners.
