Askar Mamin instructed to develop a new concept of integrated agro-industrial complex development program

Prime Minister Askar Mamin reminded about the importance of quality spring field work, reports a correspondent of INA "Kazinform".

"Qualitative and timely implementation of spring field work is one of the main elements in ensuring the food security of the country. The state is taking all necessary measures for financial and material-technical support of the spring field work. In pursuance of the instruction of the Head of State, the amount of funds allocated for spring field work has more than doubled this year. This will allow to carry out agricultural work in full and ensure the gross output in crop production up to 3.1 trillion tenge, "- Askar Mamin said at the Government meeting.

Prime Minister made a few points separately.

"According to forecasts of FAO - food and agricultural organization under the UN, Kazakhstan, along with the United States, Australia, Brazil and Argentina are considered to be the countries with the greatest potential in agriculture. Our country has the potential to become a world food hub. This is a feasible task. As an example, we can mention Turkestan region, where there are plans to increase agricultural production by 3 times within 4 years. As part of government support, special emphasis is placed on expanding irrigated areas using modern irrigation technologies, as well as increasing the number of crops. This will have a multiplier effect on the development of the next stages of production of finished products, "- Head of the Government said.

А. Mamin instructed the Ministry of Agriculture together with the akimats to develop and introduce a new concept of a comprehensive programme of agro-industrial complex development, taking into account the specifics of the agricultural sector in each region.

According to him, favorable weather conditions for a good harvest are predicted this year.

"At the same time, compliance with agro-technologies, use of quality seeds, application of fertilizers and plant protection products affect the yield. The volume of fertilizer application in the regions must meet the requirements. The state provides significant support in this direction, subsidizing up to 50% of the cost of purchasing fertilizers and pesticides. Despite this, the indicators of fertilizers and crop protection products application in the regions are insufficient, especially in Akmola, Kostanay, Karaganda and Pavlodar regions, "- Prime Minister said.

On this basis, the akims of the regions have been instructed to ensure special control over the qualitative implementation of sowing and to increase the volume of fertilizers and pesticides according to science-based standards.

"I also instruct the Ministry of National Economy together with the National Bank and the Ministry of Agriculture within the framework of the programme "The economy of simple things" to work out the expansion of the purposeful use of funds, including funding for chemical treatment of crops and harvesting works. Taking into account the practice of off-take contracts, I instruct the Ministry of Agriculture together with the Ministries of Trade and Integration, Foreign Affairs to intensify work on attracting foreign partners interested in purchasing domestic agricultural products," Mamin concluded.
