Australian method of cattle breeding will be introduced in Kazakhstan

The Ministry of Agriculture is developing a roadmap for the development of beef cattle breeding for a three-year period. The document will include measures to create modern export-oriented meat processing plants and feedlots, the World of NAN reports with reference to the Government.

The program will be based on modern technologies that help increase the average daily weight gain of cattle and reduce the period of reaching high weight conditions. Among the best - the method of Australia, which is among the top five global top producers of mutton and is the largest exporter of the world.

Kintal Islamov, Chairman of the Board of Atameken-Agro LLP, talked about his recent trip to Australia to visit the farms of cattle producers.

"First of all, what impressed me was the cleanliness and order of keeping animals. High technological efficiency of the process, logistics, the equipment used, the order of feed supply, waste utilization - the very approach to all processes is completely different. To build such a production facility you need a lot of money. And we always lack them, we always want to save money. Plus, we need sufficient livestock, which quickly gives maximum weight gain. We always criticize the agricultural sector, but we must understand that this is a capital-intensive production in general. I believe that this is a promising direction, but it requires a professional approach," Islamov said.

Taking into account that today the domestic market of the country is fully provided with meat, the further development of the industry is connected with export. And in this part there are a lot of issues that need to be resolved. For example, the issue of opening the export of live cattle.

"We will support those who are ready to introduce the best practices of developed countries and thereby reduce the cost of meat production in Kazakhstan. We will test new methods in pilot projects on those farms that are ready to undertake it. At this stage, we do not need large-scale programs, but successful models that can be replicated throughout Kazakhstan. But each project for admission to participation will be thoroughly checked in the regions, NCE "Atameken" for financial stability, business reputation, compliance with all the requirements of financial institutions and other parameters", - concluded Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin.
