Beineu terminal will allow exporting up to two million tonnes of grain

Deputy Prime Minister Serik Zhumangarin together with delegations from Afghanistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan visited the Beineu grain terminal, World of NAN reported with difference to the government.

The 26-hectare Beineu terminal, located in Mangistau Oblast, has direct access to the Kazakhstan-Turkmen border. It is a promising logistics hub with 8 km of railway tracks and its own rolling stock.

The terminal can simultaneously store 100,000 tonnes of grain, receive up to 500 wagons per day, and ship up to 2 million tonnes per year in packaged form and grain trucks. The capacity will be expanded in the future.

A mill complex is in operation, which can produce 320 tonnes of flour and 80 tonnes of bran per day. Now the process of equipment modernisation is underway, after which two flour production lines with a total capacity of 400 tonnes per day will be launched.

On the same day, Afghan representatives discussed the prospects of grain supplies through the terminal with the head of the Food Corporation and the management of Beineu terminal. In particular, the possibility of organising a key and stable export route of Kazakh wheat through Beineu terminal to Afghanistan and Pakistan is being considered.

The plans require the construction of additional storage facilities in the border areas and the establishment of logistics through the territory of Turkmenistan. The interested parties intend to work out the details of creating a new export route for Kazakh grain supplies.
