Given the annual reduction of water resources and climate change, the situation with irrigation water scarcity will only worsen unless drastic measures are taken, World of NAN reports with reference to NCE.
Today in Kazakhstan, of the 3,298 canals that supply water for irrigation, more than half require repair and reconstruction.
"We use the surface method of water delivery, and not always in concrete flumes. In many places, water still runs in an earthen channel. As a result, a huge amount of water does not even reach the fields, it evaporates", - noted in the chamber of entrepreneurs.
To solve the problem it was proposed to:
- To solve the issue of water losses. Instead of open canals it is necessary to build a pipeline.
- Adopt sectoral laws: "On Land Reclamation", "On Safety of Hydraulic Structures", "On Water Supply and Drainage".
- Pay attention to personnel training: hydrotechnician, geologist, hydrologist, engineer, etc.
- To attract private investors in the construction of irrigation networks to restore the irrigation system.
Only by fulfilling all these points, Kazakh farmers will have an opportunity to work in the future.
