MP: MIID lobbies the interests of domestic assemblers of agricultural machinery

Bolatbek Aliyev, deputy of the Majilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, believes that the authorities are pushing domestically manufactured tractors and agricultural equipment on Kazakh farmers by lobbying for someone else's interests. The MP published his stance on his personal page on facebook, World of NAN reports.

The MIID of the RK is not authorized to determine/approve the necessary agricultural equipment for the purposes of subsidizing the agro-industrial complex. However, the Ministry of Agriculture has empowered the MIID to determine what is more important to the farmer and what is not.

"The representative of the Ministry of Agriculture honestly replied that there is no such document that defines that very list. That's how he responded. In short, the simply included and that's it. What do I see behind this " simply"? The desire to support domestic assembly-production of agricultural machinery. That is how our MIID solves the problem of machine manufacturers at the expense of small farmers, thereby giving them indirect support", - wrote the deputy.

In addition, the Ministry deprived the farmers of the right to choose whether to buy imported or domestic agricultural machinery. The new project says that a farmer receives a financial compensation of 30% of the cost when buying equipment of Kazakh assemblers-manufacturers, and 15% of the cost of imported equipment.

"Yerbol Karashukeyev, maybe you can give up some of the money allocated to the farmers in favor of the MIID so they could directly gratuitously "gift" them, rather than deciding in such a veiled way at the expense of the farmers. It would be more honest. I believe that such an imposition of tractors and farm equipment by the ministry is nothing but lobbying for someone else's interests. So far, this is my opinion and the opinion of my colleagues," said the MP.

Meanwhile, Bolatbek Aliyev supports domestic production. But he believes that the farmer must have the right to choose what kind of equipment to buy and it should not be taken away.

"And if someone wants to support someone in every possible way, I repeat, there are many other ways for that: to give money directly, as a gift, in the form of a grant, and not to covertly finance them at the expense of farmers. And we will not have to rack our brains to develop cunning schemes for beautiful speeches about the support of farmers of the country", - wrote the deputy.
