Farmers in the Pavlodar region are forced to slaughter cattle because of the drought in the region, World of NAN reports with reference to inbusiness.kz.
In villages, only breeding stock is kept, while the rest are slaughtered and sold at the market. The situation is complicated by rising hay prices. Many people took advantage of the shortage and raised prices. If last year the price of one trailer of hay varied between 50-70 thousand tenge, this year it exceeded 90 thousand tenge.
To support livestock breeders it is planned to use the reserve fund for the purchase of fodder grain through JSC SEC Pavlodar. Its opening was discussed in early August, but the procedure was delayed. With its help it is supposed to purchase 9 thousand tons of grain from Russia at the price within 50-60 thousand tenge per ton.
Also, 2 billion tenge has been allocated from the local budget to reduce the cost of fodder for farm animals. In addition, about 1 billion tenge will be allocated. At the same time, the norm for cheapening the cost of fodder per head of cattle was increased from 7 thousand to 15 thousand tenge, for the small cattle - from 3 thousand to 5 thousand tenge.
