Income from medicinal herbs is higher than from agricultural crops

A farmer cultivates medicinal herbs in the region of Zhetysu along with usual crops, which bring a lot of income and are actively exported to the European Union, Russia, Turkey, and the United States, World of NAN reports with reference to the Akimat of the region.

The enterprise "Azia Gold" LLP, depending on natural and climatic conditions, harvests from 400 to 650 tons of useful plants per year. Almost all of this volume is exported abroad.

"At first we bought seeds in Russia and Europe. Then we were busy with their acclimatization. The plants adapted. Having received our own seed and seedling material, we began to expand the planting areas. Now the area of sowing medicinal herbs is up to 5 thousand hectares, - said the director of the enterprise Alexey Korzhikov.

The farm grows more than 10 types of medicinal herbs, these are chamomile, mint, sage, valerian, nettle, lavender, hawthorn, blackberry, as well as wormwood.

"In order to establish the processing of medicinal herbs we have purchased 3 special machines of European production with a total cost of about 46 thousand euros. Thanks to the replacement of parts, different programs these devices are multifunctional", - added Alexey.

According to his data, the income from medicinal herbs is higher, although they occupy only 30% of the total volume of crops grown by the farm. In the future, the company plans to build greenhouses for growing seedlings, because some plants require planting in early spring. The enterprise is also thinking about growing universal spices.

"We want to buy more than we can produce, so the future of the phytoproducts industry is bright, and we have concrete plans for expansion," summarized Alexey Viktorovich.
