Turkestan region plans to bring the processing of cotton to 100%

A project to create a cotton cluster was developed in Turkestan region, the region's akimat held a meeting on the subject, World of NAN reports with reference to the Akimat.

To increase the region's own revenues, it is necessary to create new jobs. In this regard, the development of the cotton cluster is of great importance.

"We are ready to support citizens who claim that they will open a factory, a plant in this area. Cotton production requires a lot of research. The regional Akimat will create conditions for the development of the cotton cluster. We have big plans in this direction," said the region's Akim, Darkhan Satybaldy.

Big cotton entrepreneurs, representatives of financial organizations, deputies of regional maslikhat and scientists voiced their proposals and opinions. According to them, the first priority should be improving the quality of raw cotton.

The deputy head of the regional department of agriculture E. Zhanibekov spoke about plans to create a cotton-textile cluster in the region. On the instructions of the regional Akim, a draft of a special concept was developed in this direction. The aim is to diversify cotton growing, develop enterprises of the cotton complex and obtain competitive products of the textile industry by 2027.

It is planned to open 75 enterprises to produce high quality products, starting from raw cotton, and create nine clusters. The plan is to bring cotton fiber processing to 100%, creating more than 41,000 jobs. The goal is to produce fabrics, oils, clothing and other cotton products.
