WOAH experts arrived to assess the effectiveness of the Kazakhstani veterinary service

Experts from the World Organisation for Animal Health have arrived in Kazakhstan to assess the effectiveness of the veterinary service and the program to control and combat FMD, as well as classical swine fever. The delegation includes highly qualified experts representing six countries, World of NAN reports.

"As part of the trip, visits to farms and private farms, slaughterhouses in different regions of the country are planned, as well as inspections of veterinary laboratories, the national reference center and anti-epizootic unit," the Ministry of Agriculture explained.

The press service of the Ministry notes that in order to ensure epizootic welfare in the country, a systematic work to reform the veterinary system is carried out. An audit and analysis of the veterinary service has been conducted, measures to improve the industry have been developed.

"Monthly trainings are organized in each region on diseases specific to the area.  Specialists are trained in the skills of field work, deployment and organization of eradication work, establishing the boundaries of a hostile area and carrying out recuperation activities in it, "- the ministry said.

To prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease, the region is provided with a vaccine every year. In 2022, 70 million doses of FMD vaccine were purchased.

Note that at the end of March this year the World Organization for Animal Health reaffirmed the status of 5 southeastern zones of our country free from foot and mouth disease with vaccination. The list includes Almaty, Zhetysu, East-Kazakhstan, Abay. Kyzylorda, Turkestan and Zhambyl regions.

The arrival of WOAH experts is the result of serious systematic work of the veterinary service of Kazakhstan to obtain the status of well-being with vaccination of the northwestern and central regions. This status will allow our farmers to export their products and contribute to the development of livestock farming in the country.
