Russia increases export quotas for fertilizers

Existing export quotas for Russian producers of mineral fertilizers were temporarily increased by almost 700 thousand tons, World of NAN reports referring to the Cabinet of Ministers of the Russian Federation.

The resolution was signed by the Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin. The decision will be valid until May 31, 2022 inclusive. Thus, the quota for export of nitrogen fertilizers was increased by 231 thousand tons and now amounts to about 5.7 million tons. The export quota for compound fertilisers was increased by 466,000 tonnes to 5.6m tonnes.

These measures are needed to support fertiliser producers, which are at risk of facing downtime due to low demand on the domestic market and sanctions from unfriendly countries. At the same time, fertilizer producers are counting on the interest in fertilizers from states that have not joined the sanctions.
