EU extends duty-free imports of Ukrainian grain

The Council of the European Union has officially approved a decision to extend duty-free imports of Ukrainian products until June 2024, the World of NAN reports citing octagon.media.

The European Union has decided on duty-free imports of Ukrainian products in 2022 to help Kiev to increase its exports. The European Commission has also set up overland and river routes for mass exports of grain from Ukraine to world markets.

"As we move toward the European Union, we must make this for now temporary liberalization permanent, without any exceptions or restrictions," Zelensky said.

The suspension of all duties on Ukrainian grain has led to complaints from farm groups, culminating in Poland and Hungary's ban on grain imports from Ukraine in April.

The European Commission explained that the decision to extend duty-free imports of Ukrainian goods takes into account the problems not of a particular region of the European Union, but of the common market as a whole.
