A farmer from Kostanay found a way to increase yields

A farmer from Sarykol district, Kostanai region, over the past three years has managed to increase yields by half. It's all about new tillage technology, reports World of NAN, referring to Khabar 24.

The farm, which is managed by Eduard Dvurechensky, sows soft and hard varieties of wheat. 12 thousand hectares are under crops, and two thousand every year are left for fallow. For several years they use only vertical tillage. This is a modern system of cultivation. For this purpose, they bought special imported equipment.

"The peculiarity of this machine is that it has a unique disc. Processing goes to 7-8 centimeters. That is, we put the top layer of soil down, the bottom layer of soil up. And we press it all down. We create a mulch layer. There's no wind erosion. And this year the mechanical processing can be, so to speak, finished", - said Eduard Dvurechensky.

The new type of cultivation retains moisture in the soil well. Agrarians have already found it out by experience. The results are surprising, the yield doubled, and the sowing period is reduced.

At the moment there are just over four and a half million hectares sown in the Kostanay region. This is almost 92% of the total sown area. In the next few days, farmers will complete the field work.
