Panfilov district accounts for almost 50% of maize crops in the region of Zhetysu, and about 4,000 farmers are engaged in maize cultivation here. The average yield in the region is 66 c/ha, but one farmer has achieved a yield increase to 150 c/ha, the World of NAN reports, citing the region's akimat.
The Aigerim farm doubled corn yields with the help of moisture-saving technologies. If earlier the farm received 70 c/ha from each hectare, after introduction of drip irrigation the yield increased up to 150 c/ha. Thus for 2 years drip irrigation in the farm covered 156 hectares, and 270 million tenge of investments were made.
"We grow corn varieties for fodder, seeds and popcorn. Last year we introduced drip irrigation on 55 hectares, having allocated 120 million tenge of our own funds for this purpose, after which we began to receive up to 150 centners per hectare. This year, having invested another 150 million tenge covered 101 hectares with drip irrigation. We expect that this year's corn yield will be about the same as last year", - shared the head of farm "Aigerim" Ulan Sarpekov.
It should be noted that he has been growing corn for 11 years. And he brought the equipment for drip irrigation from Israel.
