Farmers need an agrarian bank

It is necessary to create a system of low-cost and long-term lending to farmers. The topic of agrarian bank was raised again by the deputies at the round table meeting in the Majilis, World of NAN reports with reference to inform.kz.

According to Majilis deputy Anas Bakkozhayev, Kazakhstan has not been able to create a system of lending to farmers at low interest rates for 20 years. And all the established institutions do not meet the needs of farmers in finance.

"Therefore, it is necessary to create an agrarian bank and direct its activities to solving the problems of farmers. Today there is a family bank, which gives loans at very cheap interest, to provide housing for the population. There is the Development Bank of Kazakhstan, which finances necessary large investment projects. When creating these two banks there were no questions, and in the issue of financing farmers remains a controversial argument - both in the National Bank and in the government, - said the deputy.

To ensure food security of the country, it is necessary to create a system of low-cost and long-term lending to farmers.

"The National Bank is saying the same thing. Deputy Chairman of the National Bank today said that he is not against the creation of Agrobank. This is the simplest answer. If the National Bank is not against us, then now it's up to the government and the Financial Market Regulatory Agency. According to our calculations, Agrobank could issue a loan at 2.5 percent," Anas Bakkozhayev summarized.
