The farmers of the North-Kazakhstan region voiced their concerns at a meeting with the Minister of Trade Serik Zhumangarin, World of NAN reports referring to the Ministry of Trade.
Kintal Islamov, Chairman of the Board of Atameken Agro JSC, stated his position: "Sunflower is a relatively new crop for the North Kazakhstan Region, but now instead of popularizing it, it is prohibited for export. We recommend to not introduce quotas, as it ultimately affects the producer's price".
He also brought up the problem of transportation of manufactured products, which he faces year after year.
"The demand is there, the product is there, but we can't deliver, and consequently we have difficulties because of that. We are preparing for the next season, field works, we need money to buy fertilizers, and because the rail cars don't arrive on time, we can't get the money on time. We have contracts with European companies that we have to deliver products to and we get fined because of late deliveries, and the fines are quite high, up to $1 million," said Kintal Islamov.
