Farmers are strategically important for every country

The Chairman of Israel-Kazakhstan Chamber of Commerce Michael Rohe shared his opinion about the agricultural potential of Kazakhstan, World of NAN reports citing inform.kz.

"Kazakhstan is amazing. When I travel around Kazakhstan and see the potential, it is huge. As your president has repeatedly said, "we can feed a billion people," but first we need to match the potential with the implementation, "- said Michael Rohe.

He believes that Kazakhstan can learn a lot from Israel, a small country on the sand, without water, which created an agricultural empire. In addition, the chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry pointed to the importance of subsidies for agriculture.

"I think this is the right way to go because the U.S. gives subsidies to its farmers, Europe gives subsidies to its farmers. Agriculture is more complicated than we think. These subsidies help make the products we buy in the supermarkets cheaper. Otherwise, they will be more expensive. We should always help farmers. Farmers are strategically important to every country. If they don't produce food, you will go hungry. You can't just depend on imports," he said.
