A resident of Mangistau uses hydroponics for growing fodder

Entrepreneur Isatai Saktaganov, who lives in the Mangistau region, is engaged in fodder production using the hydroponics method. This type of business was undertaken by him due to the drought in the country, World of NAN reports with reference to Kazinform MIA.

Isatai Saktaganov developed his business and built a mini-greenhouse at his home. In it, using the method of drip irrigation, up to 1 ton of production per month can be obtained.

"Since grass is grown without soil, it does not require additional investments. This method can be used to dry and store winter fodder. I was thinking about this method 3-4 years ago. I visited large firms and private farms in Nur-Sultan, Aktobe, Atyrau, where I saw the use of this method. Then my interest in this method increased and I decided to try it in practice. Now this case has become my favorite activity. This approach is used in regions with hot, arid climate, and a lot of drought", - said I. Saktaganov.

According to him, by maintaining a stable microclimate using the hydroponic method, out of 40 kg of barley 400 kg of hay can be grown in a week. He also built a facility for the new method on his own.

According to the entrepreneur, the courtyard of the apartment building in which he lives, forage preparation using the hydroponics method is fully organized across several floors with the use of special cold-permeable materials.

"First we clean the barley and wash it, keep it in water for 12 hours. Then the water is drained, it is stored in a warm place, after 3 days the light is turned on and after 1 week the grass germinates. Here you also need to pay special attention to the temperature of the water with which the grass is watered. Because the grass does not grow in very cool water. This can also help to save water. For example, the released water can be collected in a separate container and used to water the yard. You don't need a large area of land to develop hydroponics. We need special racks, air vents, solar lights, special liquid and water," Isatay Saktaganov explained.

The milk of a cow eating grass grown with hydroponics is nutritious and abundant. The business owner, who found the mechanism of an effective method, noted that he intends to expand its application in the future.
