Head of the Ministry of Agriculture awarded the best farmers of the region

The Minister of Agriculture talked about the upcoming sowing season as well as the development of the agroindustrial complex at a meeting with farmers of Almaty region. The best of them who made a special contribution to the development of the industry were awarded by the Ministry, reports World of NAN.

Certificates of Merit and Letters of Gratitude were awarded to Ulan Sarpekov, the head of the Aigerim farm, Askar Zhazylbekov, the head of the Zhazylbekov & Co farm, and Serik Abykanov, the head of the Abykan farm.

Farmers said that in the current season the region plans to sow about 454.9 thousand hectares.  For the most part it will be cereals, leguminous and forage crops.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture, last year the Almaty region harvested about 608.6 thousand tons of grain and 64.9 tons of oilseeds. The region is traditionally one of the main producers of potatoes and melons. Last year's harvesting campaign ended with the harvest resuults of potatoes - 502.2 thousand tons, vegetable crops - 800.1 thousand tons, and melons - 61.6 thousand tons.

In turn, the head of the Ministry of Agriculture focused on state support for farmers.

"Speaking about state support, Yerbol Karashukeyev said that within the framework of scaling of pilot project on increase of income of rural population, this year Almaty region will receive 2,3 billion tenge with a plan to issue about 600 concessional micro loans for rural population. Also in parallel the experience of North Kazakhstan region on financing of investment projects in agricultural sector through social-entrepreneurial corporations will be replicated", - press-service reports.

In Almaty region the pool includes 13 projects costing 36,8 billion tenge. These are dairy farms, poultry farms and irrigation projects.

Karashukeyev said that a lot of work has been done to regulate land relations. By means of strengthening of work of land inspection 5.2 mln ha of agricultural lands including 113.6 thousand ha in Almaty region have been returned into state ownership. These lands will be further redistributed to meet the needs of rural settlements for grazing private farms, the minister added.
