Civil servant sentenced to 6 years in prison for stealing subsidies

A criminal case against the chief specialist of the Department of Agriculture of the Akimat of the Kostanai region was heard in the Kostanai city court, World of NAN reports with reference to the court.

Between April and December 2019, the civil servant, working in a group of persons by prior collusion, organized the theft of investment subsidies provided to the subjects of the agro-industrial complex of Kostanai region. The subsidies were used to create infrastructure for watering pastures and providing water to livestock farms.

They involved managers of "Agro-Consulting KST" LLP in their criminal activity, who later carried out criminal instructions and assignments aimed at embezzlement of budgetary funds.

The court took into account that the defendant violated his oath of office as a public servant and sentenced him to 6 years and 6 months of imprisonment. One of the participants of the embezzlement of subsidies received 6 years in prison, the rest 5 years on probation. In addition, about 35 million tenge was recovered from the convicts in favor of the state.
