The state will purchase vegetables from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan

To prevent significant price fluctuations in vegetables during the off-season, the state will have direct contracting with suppliers from Uzbekistan and Tajikistan, World of NAN reports quoting the Government.

A subordinate organisation of the Ministry of Trade and Integration has signed relevant contracts with Uzbek and Tajik partners. Vegetables will be supplied to the Kazakhstani market through a "green corridor" and at the most attractive prices, with the exclusion of intermediaries and resellers.

Thus, contracts have already been concluded for the supply of imported vegetables with nine agricultural producers with a total volume of four thousand tons, including 2060 tons of potatoes and 1940 tons of onions.

In general, akimats need to contract at least 18.6 thousand tonnes of potatoes, 7.2 thousand tonnes of carrots and 5 thousand tonnes of onions. Currently, 81 thousand tonnes of vegetable products have been allocated from available stocks.

Earlier, the country's vegetable growers spoke about the growing competition from the southern neighbours. It is not known how they will cope with price pressure.
