North Kazakhstan University named after Manash Kozybayev has received grant funding for the implementation of a scientific project to process hides into feed supplements, the World of NAN reports with reference to the Ministry of Science.
The agreement was signed with the JSC " Fond Nauki" (Found of Science). The scientific work examines technologies for the utilization and processing of hides of cattle and horses into a high-protein feed additive. SK PROTEIN LLP became a partner in realization of the project.
According to the latest research, tannery waste contains more than 30% protein, 2-5% mineral substances and 0.1-5% fat. Skin protein is represented mainly by collagen, polypeptide residues of which are well digested in the animal body.
The main target market segment of the project consumers is mainly livestock complexes and poultry farms, domestic feeders, as well as farmers in the European Union, Russia and in the future China.
