The mass harvesting of grain in the grain-growing regions of Kazakhstan is approaching. The editors of World of NAN would like to remind farmers of the basic conditions for preserving grain.

After harvesting, if the grain moisture is high, it should be dried and cleaned of foreign matter. Remember that rice and granary weevils, grain borers, moths and other insects can be found in cereal crops. Female beetles can lay several hundred eggs, so prevention is necessary.

Naturally, the warehouse also needs to be prepared: cleaned of the remains of last year's harvest, dirt, rodents and insects. And most importantly, carry out disinfestation. In this matter, you need to be very demanding. Today, there are three methods of disinfestation: fumigation, wet treatment and aerosol treatment.

The most effective method of chemical disinfestation is fumigation, which involves treating grain and storage facilities with gases and vapors of toxic substances. Today, pesticides based on the active substance aluminum phosphide, and less often magnesium phosphide, are used for fumigation. These substances can be in the form of tablets or granules and are introduced into the grain flow.
