Kazagrofinance continues to press farmers on VAT

Recently we wrote about the litigation of a Pavlodar farmer. He leased machinery through Kazagrofinance, but after a while the credit company demanded to pay VAT. The farmer was in arrears and even incurred a penalty. The other day another farmer came to the editorial office of World of NAN claiming that they were being "extorted" for VAT.

IE Karimbay A.E. is located in the Turkestan region. It is engaged in crop farming. In 2021, the farm decided to purchase a new tractor for field work. They contacted MTZ Kazakhstan, they were referred to the dealer company "AgroBusiness Kazakhstan". As a result, a lease was arranged through Kazagrofinance.

"We paid 4 million 306 thousand tenge - a 20% prepayment. The equipment itself cost 21 million 500 thousand tenge according to the price list. We are already using the equipment, and then suddenly the KAF decided to change the contract for us, they want us to pay extra for VAT", - Yerzhan Alimov tells his story.

According to him, the first calls started to come in November 2022. KAF representative asked to sign an additional agreement to the contract.

"According to it it turns out that I agree to pay 12% VAT. In my case it's about 2.5 million tenge. They said that they could take the tractor away if I refused to sign the contract. I refused," continues the farmer.

After the calls Y. Alimov applied to the head office of KAF in Astana for explanations. However, they did not give a clear answer why they suddenly remembered the VAT, and did not provide a written reason either. 

"In the dealership company I was told directly that I should not go at the request of KAF and sign the documents. They explained to me that I had bought under the price list without VAT, so they had no right to demand to pay it. So I followed the advice and simply refused to sign the documents," Mr. Alimov said.

It should be noted that the farmer has been using the services of KAF for a long time and has not had any problems before. Having already heard about the trials of Pavlodar farmers, the Turkestan agrarian hopes that the NCE "Atameken" will manage to protect the interests of farmers and they will be left alone for good.
