Kazakhstan and China sign commercial contracts worth over $565 million

On the margins of the IInd Friendly Dialogue of cross-border cooperation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China, the participants discussed issues of trade, investment and logistics. Kazakhstan asked its neighbors to solve the most acute problems of today - to lift the ban on imports of meat products from Kazakhstan, to increase the supply of agricultural products, including wheat, World of NAN reports.

China's Xinjiang, which accounts for more than 40 percent of Kazakhstan's trade with China, is a key region that traditionally links the countries. Meanwhile, the two countries have enormous potential for expanding trade and economic cooperation.

As Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin said, Kazakhstan is ready to offer Chinese buyers a wide range of industrial and agricultural goods in 135 commodity items worth over $1 billion. In particular, Kazakh enterprises can supply China with chilled meat products, fish products, poultry and offal, pork, eggs, horsemeat and other types of high-margin goods.

"For this purpose, it is very important to remove restrictions on the export of Kazakh meat products to China related to animal diseases. The other day the World Organization for Animal Health recommended confirming the status of five south-eastern zones of Kazakhstan free of foot and mouth disease with vaccination," Serik Zhumangarin addressed the representatives of the Chinese delegation.

In his speech at the forum, Deputy Prime Minister also noted the need for specialists from the General Customs Administration of China to come to Kazakhstan to conduct an inspection of Kazakh producers of crop and livestock products. This will accelerate the procedure for signing and approving protocols on the requirements for certain types of domestic agricultural products.

"Kazakhstan is ready to increase the volume of annual wheat supplies to China to 1 million tons and more. To this end, among other things, there are infrastructural opportunities. I gave an order to send one trainload of grain to bond zone of PRC as a pilot", - Serik Zhumangarin informed participants of the event and offered to form a sub-committee on agriculture between Kazakhstan and PRC to operatively solve issues of mutual trade.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Commerce, among other agreements signed a memorandum of understanding between the Kazakh Research Institute of Agriculture and Crop Production and "JOIN HOPE SEEDS CO.LTD". Signed a memorandum of cooperation between the joint-stock company "KTZ Express" and the company "ChinaXinjiang Electronic Port Co, Ltd. Also, a contract for the import of wheat for 50 thousand tons between "Vilmir" LLP and "Alashankou Jinshahe Noodle Co Ltd" was signed.
