Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan will begin construction of WDCs and agro-logistics centers

Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan B. Sultanov and Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan S. Umurazakov signed a plan of joint measures to expand mutual trade and improve the provision of food products, World of NAN reports with reference to the Ministry of Trade.

The parties outlined specific measures aimed at joint construction of wholesale distribution centers in the territories of the countries, with their further integration with cross-border hubs to form a single commodity distribution system. The first steps in this direction have already been taken by agreeing and signing the Concept of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation and the relevant Action Plan for the implementation of this project.

Thus, it is planned to start the activities of Agro-Logistics Centers (ALC) in 2023-2024, jointly promote the services of Agro-Logistics Centers, develop partnerships to support exports, involving cooperative participants, dehkan and farm households, agricultural clusters and agricultural associations in ALC activities.

In addition, the parties plan to organize the work of laboratories, allowing to conduct full-fledged tests of quality and safety parameters of food and food products in ALC on the basis of international requirements, the organization of "green corridors" on mutual exports and imports and transit of agricultural products.

Also within the framework of the Plan it is planned to launch accelerated container rail trains. And in this context, the parties are considering the possibility of Kazakhstan's participation in the Russian-Uzbek project "Agroexpress" for the delivery of agricultural goods.

In addition, to provide their own markets with early and late crops during the off-season, especially socially important goods, the parties plan to switch to the practice of forward contracts for the supply of agricultural products.

In general, the Plan provides for work in five areas: the launch of accelerated container trains, organization of wholesale and distribution centers (WDC) with the involvement of Kazakhstani investments; conclusion of forward contracts for the supply of agricultural products; implementation of projects in the field of agriculture with the involvement of Uzbek investments in Kazakhstan; mutual supply of agricultural products.
