Kazakhstan is requesting PRC to remove barriers on agricultural products export

The Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov and Premier of the State Council Li Keqiang discussed topical issues of strengthening Kazakhstan-China cooperation during bilateral talks via videoconferencing. They touched upon issues of cooperation in trade and economic and transit-transport spheres, agriculture, World of NAN reports.

In his speech, Alikhan Smailov noted that last year the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and China increased by 14% and totaled $18 billion. In this year there has been even more dynamic growth: in 10 months this figure grew by almost 33% and reached $19.7 billion.

According to him, it is necessary to further expand the range of supplied goods and services and establish more direct contacts between the business communities of the two countries. In particular, Kazakhstan is ready to reinforce the positive trade trend and increase exports of its products to China in 135 commodity items.

In addition, the Prime Minister noted the importance of removing barriers on Kazakhstani agricultural exports, increasing cooperation on the use and protection of transboundary rivers.

"We are ready for an active dialogue. I'm sure that the high dynamics of the Kazakh-Chinese strategic partnership will continue to develop in all directions," Alikhan Smailov emphasized.

For his part, Li Keqiang stated that China views Kazakhstan as a friendly neighbor and an important trade partner. According to him, China is particularly interested in increasing the supply of cargo and agricultural products, launching new energy projects, and developing humanitarian ties and cooperation in the field of environmental protection.

"We are ready to continue working with our Kazakhstani colleagues to strengthen bilateral relations between our countries," Li Keqiang said.
