The Russian Union of Grain Exporters has responded to the complete ban on wheat imports from Russia. The chairman of the union's board, Eduard Zernin, voiced his position to rg.ru, World of NAN reports.
A complete ban on wheat imports will be introduced on August 1, which will not provide for any exceptions. This is being done to limit the gray import of wheat to Kazakhstan, the volume of which reaches 4-5 million tons.
"Russian exporters do not know the volume of illegal export of Russian grain to the neighboring republic. Colleagues definitely know better, since without the legalization of this grain as Kazakhstani, such activity is simply meaningless," explained Eduard Zernin.
In his opinion, the problem can be solved in another way. For example, through a comparative analysis of the "achievements" of suspicious producers with average long-term yield values in a particular region of Kazakhstan. This would immediately identify all potential violators, and then it is a question of preventive measures on the part of the state. If this is not done, then it is not profitable for someone, Zernin suggests.
"It is unfortunate that behind the loud rhetoric about the "fight against smuggling" there are clearly unfriendly actions towards Russian agricultural producers, aimed at banal restriction of competition," he said.
The deputies of Kazakhstan also proposed to increase the tariff on the transit of Russian wheat to Central Asian countries. If this happens, then Russian wheat will encounter an insurmountable obstacle, and who knows what countermeasures the neighbors will take.
