Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration Kairat Torebayev told about measures to develop non-resource exports in Kazakhstan on the site of the SEC. According to him, the country has reached a record high for exports of processed products, World of NAN reported.
"Last year we reached a record $26.5 billion in exports of processed products. This trend has continued this year," the vice minister noted.
In the first quarter of 2023, total foreign trade in processed products increased 32 percent from the previous year's same period to $18.8 billion. Non-commodity exports during the same period totaled $5.9 billion, showing an increase of 7.6%.
A significant increase in export supplies was shown by a number of commodity items. For example, last year sales of flour abroad grew by 70.8%, sunflower oil by 19.9%, oil products by 52.2%, cars by 46%, and export of fertilizers increased 2.8 times.
For three months of 2023 Kazakhstan sent finished export products to 106 countries of the world, at that the list of countries-importers expanded as compared with the same period of the previous year. New markets for Kazakhstan's exports were the Syrian Arab Republic, Senegal, Northern Macedonia, Somalia, Guinea and Cyprus.
The main buyers of processed products from Kazakhstan traditionally act Russia, China, Uzbekistan, Turkey, the Netherlands, Britain, Japan, Kyrgyzstan, Georgia and Afghanistan.
According to Kairat Torebayev, two operators support exports in Kazakhstan: KazakhExport provides financial measures, QazTrade provides non-financial tools for export-oriented companies.
Last year the country had 650 active exporters of non-resource products, which have been exporting for at least three years. Of them, 463 enterprises used non-financial measures of state support. These are the programs of export acceleration, marketplaces, participation in trade missions and reimbursement of part of export costs.
"Each measure shows the result in the form of return of the invested budget money. And so, on the program of acceleration, return per one budget tenge was 158 tenge, on output to market places - 213 tenge, on service support measures - 652 tenge", - these data were given by vice-minister of trade and integration at a briefing in the SEC.
