In the first 11 months of last year 2023, Russia exported 17 thousand tons of powdered milk, of which 10 thousand tons were purchased by Kazakhstan, reports World of NAN with reference to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation.
From January to November 2023, Russian exports of dried milk increased by 5.4 times compared to the same period of the previous year and exceeded 17 thousand tons. In value terms, the export volume increased 2.9 times.
The key importers of Russian milk powder in 2023 were the countries of the near abroad, including Kazakhstan, Armenia and Georgia. Exports to Kazakhstan increased 4.9 times, up to 10 thousand tons, to Armenia - 13 times, up to 1.9 thousand tons. In 11 months, 1.4 thousand tons of milk powder was shipped to Georgia, while in 2022 there were no deliveries to this country.
Growth in exports of dairy products due to increased demand and new support measures to stimulate exports.
Recall that in Kazakhstan under the program of preferential lending 100 billion tenge was allocated for the construction of dairy farms. How will these farms compete with cheap Russian products? It should also be taken into account that the neighboring country covers transportation costs for exporters, so it is much more profitable for processors to buy dry raw materials from Russia.
