Kazakh scientists have developed a frost-resistant winter wheat variety

The variety "Shol" was developed by NASEC scientists as a result of individual selection from a hybrid population. This variety has a rich botanical diversity and is a hybrid species of Gostianum, World of NAN reported with the reference to the Ministry of Agriculture.

The characteristics of "Shol" are impressive: cylindrical spikelets 8-12 cm long, dense structure, 14-18 spikes per 10 cm, long woolly internodes of white colour. The grain is vitreous, semi-long, large, red in colour, with a smooth base and a medium groove.

The economic value of the variety is manifested in its high yield: weight of 1000 grains 40,8-49,0 g, natura 757-820 g / l, the number of grains in the main ear 45,5-60,5, yielding bush 2,2 -2,8. "Shol" is characterized by high winter hardiness, resistance to frost, heat, drought, as well as to diseases.

The variety is recommended for cultivation in conditions of irrigation and fertilizers, does not crumble at maturity and is easily threshed. The yield of "Shol" is 25.5-40.5 kg / ha.

This variety has been tested and zoned, received a patent and is successfully used by agricultural enterprises. Scientists and breeders are looking forward to the new variety "Shol" will bring rich yields and help agriculture to improve its performance.
