Last year, Kazakhstan exported 527,000 tons of wheat and 1,150,000 tons of flour to Afghanistan, World of NAN reports with reference to KTZh.
In the first half of this year, a total of 328,000 tons of wheat, 3,600 tons of other crops, 9,400 tons of oilseeds and 430,000 tons of flour were shipped to Afghanistan. However, today the situation in Afghanistan worries Kazakh grain traders.
This direction has always enjoyed a demand for grain. The time of grain shipment is approaching, which means it is time to export grain as usual. However, at the moment it is unclear what will happen to Kazakh grain traders. It is known that the grain yield due to the drought in Kazakhstan is not as much as it was last year.
According to Zhandos Kuanyshev, head of Astyk Trans, in case of low freight turnover in this direction a decision will be made to stop shipments, as there is no certainty that the cars sent there will return. Therefore, in case of increased risk, the company intends to refuse shipments to Afghanistan.
