The traditional crop for the country's farmers is wheat and other grains. Already today, farmers are feeling price pressure on the market due to increased competition. Moreover, competition from the country of its northern neighbor will only grow, World of NAN reports.
Thus, Russia plans to increase grain production to 170 million tons by 2030 (from 150 million tons in 2023), and exports to 81 million tons (71 million tons in 2023).
The production of oilseeds is planned to increase from 30 million tons in 2023 to 35 million tons in 2030, and their exports, on the contrary, are to be reduced by 2.5 times (from 5 million to 2.5 million tons) in favor of the export of finished products (vegetable oils) – from 7 million to 9 million tons.
Growth in production and exports is also planned for flour (from 9 million to 10 million tons and from 1 million to 2 million tons for export), sugar (from 6.7 million to 7.3 million tons and from 0.7 million to 1. 2 million tons) and confectionery products (from 4.1 million to 4.6 million tons and 0.6 million to 0.9 million tons).
Kazakhstan and Russia have different conditions; it is much easier to obtain an increased grain harvest in a neighboring country. Therefore, farmers should already plan to diversify their crops in order to receive at least some benefit in the future.
