A $20 million plant for the production of irrigation equipment is planned to open in Kazakhstan in 2024. VODAR, the largest producer of irrigation systems in China, intends to invest in the project, reports World of NAN.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Memorandum of Understanding was signed during the visit to China by Yerbol Karashukeyev, Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and Karson Zhou, General Director of VODAR.
The enterprise is expected to be erected on the territory of FEZ Khorgos Eastern Gate.
"The first production line will be launched as early as this year. In addition, two demonstration sites in Almaty and Pavlodar regions will be installed in the coming months. It should be noted that the company does not require additional measures of state support and is ready to work on market conditions", - was told in the ministry.
Meanwhile, Kazakhstan saw an increase in areas where water-saving technologies were introduced, thanks to an investment subsidy that reimburses 50% of farmers' expenses for purchasing modern irrigation systems and the supply of all the necessary infrastructure for water intake and delivery. By 2030, the Ministry of Agriculture plans to bring the area of intensive irrigation to 750 thousand hectares.
During the meeting of the Minister of Agriculture with the leadership of VODAR and Kazakh Invest the Road Map was also signed, which should give impetus to the development of bilateral relations.
Note that VODAR irrigation systems are exported to 26 countries, including Australia, Hungary, Mongolia, USA and Russia. The company is one of the world leaders in the production of water saving technologies.
