Domestic exporters have been so successful in making sales on the Alibaba.com marketplace that the site decided to focus on Kazakh goods this year, World of NAN reports with reference to the Ministry of Trade.
"We have seen a lot of business activity among both sellers and buyers in terms of the number of inquiries being directed to Kazakh goods," Alibaba Group Vice President of Strategic Development Chris Zou shared.
Now the site is conducting research on which categories of goods have a greater export profile, exploring their potential, and together with QazTrade, they are identifying companies that can succeed on the platform. Based on the information gathered, a new development strategy and action plan will be developed.
"The most popular products are food and beverages, agricultural products, health and beauty products, and clothing. Most of them are capable of supplying Kazakh enterprises and companies for neighboring countries of the region. If earlier Alibaba.com was interested in suppliers from Vietnam and the United States, then this year the platform decided to focus on Kazakhstan," - emphasized Chris Zou.
Daniel Zhou, Senior Business Manager for Central Asia, recommends paying attention to trend #1 - snacks, confectionery, nuts and seeds. A lot of requests come for dried fruits and canned products, halal meat is also in demand on the platform.
"Confectionery products are very popular, people look for them, they want to buy them. Such an interesting fact, the trend for organic products is in Bangaldesh and Pakistan, and the population there is quite large," Daniel Zhou added.
As for potential markets, Kazakhstani exporters most often make deals through the online platform with partners from neighboring countries such as Russia, Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. There are many buyers from Eastern Europe on the platform. A large number of completed sales to these countries can be explained by well-built and clear logistics.
