Kostanay agrarians gathered a record harvest of oilseeds

Rich harvest of oil-bearing crops gathered in the region this year. Only in Uzunkol district, the volume was a record for the last ten years. Part of the harvested product farmers will send for export. The rest will be processed at local agricultural enterprises, World of NAN reports with reference to Khabar 24.

In Uzunkol district, one-sixth of the total sown area is sown with oil-bearing crops. Every year they try to increase such sowings there. Diversification takes place on average by 10-20%. This year a record harvest was gathered in the area.

"We threshed 41 thousand tons of oilseeds from the area of 47 thousand hectares. At an average yield of 10 centners per hectare," said Azamat Auzhanov, the Akim of the Uzunkol district.

Almost half a million tons of raw materials this year were harvested by farmers in Kostanay Region. That's twice as much as last year. The average yield in the region reached 6.5 tons per hectare. The harvested volumes, the Akimat informs, are enough to ensure food security. In addition, processing in the region is increasing. The oil factory in Novopokrovka village has been operating for almost 15 years. It started with 1,000 bottles. Now it pours more than 50 thousand liters of sunflower oil during a season.

"The working process is mostly only in winter. As the sunflower is harvested, the seeds are harvested. This process goes on all winter. We have sales in our stores in the district center and in the city of Kostanay. And online orders," says Akhmet Sadykov, deputy director of the enterprise.

The government provides incentives for farmers engaged in oilseed crops. The main thing is to supply raw materials to domestic processing plants.

"There is a subsidy program for agricultural producers in the region. That is, agricultural producers, involved in the cultivation of oilseeds, upon delivery to the processing companies, receive subsidies. At the rate of 20,800 tenge per ton," said Nursultan Kabdelov, head of the Department of Agriculture of Kostanay Region.

Farmers have not yet given up on seed exports. They are exporting some of their harvested crops to Europe, Russia and China. They have established supplies to Afghanistan and neighboring Uzbekistan.
