The achievements of the livestock sector and urgent issues were discussed at a round table dedicated to the past professional holiday of workers of the sector. The meeting was attended by Minister of Agriculture Yerbol Karashukeyev, parliamentarians and local livestock farmers, reports World of NAN.
The dialogue platform was organized by the National Agricultural Movement "Shopan-ata". The laurels "Excellent worker of agriculture" were awarded to heads of farms and companies Oralin Beltai, Bagadat Siretar, Nurlan Bimanov, Marat Ibrayimov, Usman Alibekov. And the award badge "Veteran of Labor" was bestowed upon Beibitshilik Tolibayev.
Welcoming cattle breeders, Y. Karashukeyev noted that today cattle breeding is one of the main sectors of agroindustrial complex of the country. It accounts for about 40% of gross agricultural output. Head of the Ministry of Agriculture noted the quality indicators of the industry.
By the results of 2022 the production volume of livestock products increased by 0.9%, and for 5 months of this year the growth was 3.6%. According to the minister, over the past 10 years the genetic potential of livestock has increased. Through the strengthening of measures of state support, the share of breeding animals of all types of livestock has increased. For example, the share of pedigree cattle has increased from 7% to 13.5% of the total number of cattle, the minister said.
To expand the market a set of anti-FMD measures is being implemented and the work with the WHO is being carried out to restore the FMD free status with vaccination in the northwestern regions. According to the Head of Department, this experience will be a starting point for further development of the industry, the protection of livestock, and will increase the export of Kazakh meat. Currently negotiations are underway to open export markets of the PRC, Russia and South-East Asia through mutual recognition of the principle of regionalization in the provision of epizootic welfare. In addition, the decision of the IAC will be extended export quotas on the export of 60 thousand head of steers and 120 thousand head of sheep from the country until December 24, 2023. The corresponding draft order is at the stage of publication.
Yerbol Karashukeyev also spoke about the work on the inclusion of domestic enterprises in the registers of importers of livestock products. Since 2020 their number has increased by 35% from 2484 to 3357.
The Minister of Agriculture highlighted improvement of the subsidy mechanism of the sector. Participants of the meeting - Kazakh breeders were able to voice their suggestions and comments, which will also be taken into account in this work.
