Ministers discussed the development of domestic agricultural machine-building industry

Issues of development of domestic agricultural engineering were discussed at the meeting by Minister of Agriculture Y. Karashukeyev and the head of MIID RK K. Uskenbayev. The speakers proposed to create a Council and National Machine Building Center in Kazakhstan, World of NAN reports referring to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

According to the Head of the Ministry of Agriculture, the rate of renewal of the main types of agricultural machinery at the required technological level of 12.5% per year is actually no more than 3.5%. In turn, the high degree of wear and tear and low level of renewal of machine and tractor fleet leads to high costs to maintain worn-out equipment in working order.

Y. Karashukeyev emphasized the fact that the volume of domestic production of mounted and trailed machines is insufficient. In 2021, only 8,200 units were supplied. Incidentally, earlier in Kazakhstan, domestic machine-building plants produced dozens of items of agricultural machinery for various purposes and spare parts for them to meet the needs of agriculture.

Thus, for the successful development of domestic agricultural engineering, it was proposed to create an Interagency Scientific and Technical Council on Agricultural Engineering. The Council will coordinate interaction of scientific, design organizations with machine-building plants and agricultural enterprises - consumers of agricultural engineering products. It was also proposed to create National center of agricultural machine-building with special design bureau on plant-growing and animal-breeding on the base of scientific production center "NPC agroengineering" LLP.

Summarizing the meeting, the Minister of Industry and Infrastructure Development Kairbek Uskenbayev expressed the hope that joint work with the Ministry of Agriculture, as well as implementation of these proposals will bring agricultural engineering and technical provision of agriculture of the country to a new level and reduce dependence on imports. According to the head of MIID, in the domestic market Kazakh agricultural engineering enterprises should become "local monopolists", and subsequently, as before, exporters.
