Vice-Minister of Agriculture Amangaly Berdalin said that subsidies for preservation of Kazakh breed of sport horses are planned in the country, World of NAN reports with reference to inform.kz.
On the initiative of the Senate deputies the bill "On introducing amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on issues of preservation and reproduction of the Kazakh breed of sport horses" was considered.
"The changes concern the development of sport horse breeding, previously we had included only productive horse breeding. We now differentiate, because in Kazakhstan there are only 268 heads of horses of the Kostanai sport breed in the horse breeding chamber. We believe that the situation is critical and to prevent this breed from extinction, there is a need for state support", - said the Vice-Minister.
The amendments to the bill will increase state expenditures from the republican and local budgets. Assistance will be provided in the form of subsidies for the purchase of fodder and so on.
"Now calculations are being made, then we will defend them in the Ministry of Finance and only after the republican budget commission approves, we will be able to name the amount. Until today, no funds have been allocated in this direction," explained Amangaly Berdalin.
During the discussion of the bill, it is possible that other breeds of horses will be added to the list.
