The Ministry of Agriculture reported on the record for meat exports over the past 10 years

The Minister of Agriculture Y. Karashukeyev made a report at the meeting of the Government on the development of cattle breeding. He spoke about the volume of exports and an increase in livestock, reports World of NAN.

According to the Minister, in general, the industry is developing at a stable pace. The number of livestock of all types of cattle is steadily growing. Only for the past year 2022, the number of cattle increased by 4.2%, sheep - by 4.8%, horses - by 10.5%, camels - by 6.5% and poultry - by 4%. In parallel, the qualitative indicators of livestock development are growing. In particular, the average milk yield increased by 4,7%, also there is an increase of slaughter weight of sheep by 8,6%, egg laying hens by 17,2%.

According to the results of 2022, the production of livestock products increased by 0.9%, and for the 5 months of this year, the growth was 3.6%.

"It should be noted that in the pre-pandemic year of 2019, during the period of having a status of FMD-free, the export of meat was 9.7 thousand tons, including China accounted for 3.6 thousand tons, Russia - 2.1 thousand tons and Iran - 2.3 thousand tons. By the end of 2022, despite the suspension of FMD free status in the northwestern regions, we were able to refocus exports to Uzbekistan, the UAE and Kyrgyzstan and increase export volumes by 2.9 times. As a result, meat exports last year amounted to 28,700 tons. This is a record figure for the last 10 years. This trend continues this year," Y. Karashukeyev noted.

In this regard, exports of meat to Uzbekistan increased 134-fold, and to the UAE 8-fold.

According to the Minister, existing measures of state support helped to preserve investment attractiveness of livestock industry. Last year, the volume of investment in livestock increased by 67% compared to 2021 and reached 117.5 billion tenge. A total of 102 investment projects were implemented. In this case, the largest volume of investments accounted for the construction of dairy farms. In 2022, 36 dairy farms were commissioned, with a capacity of 52.4 thousand tons of milk. Also 7 investment projects on construction of poultry farms of meat direction with total capacity of 41,9 thousand tons of poultry meat per year were commissioned.

Over the past 10 years the genetic potential of livestock has increased. Due to the strengthening of state support measures the share of breeding animals in all types of livestock has increased.

Negotiations are underway to open export markets of the PRC, Russian Federation, South-East Asia through mutual recognition of the principle of regionalization in matters of epizootic welfare. In addition, delivery of live cattle and livestock products to the markets of Uzbekistan, the Arab and a number of other countries on the basis of bilateral agreements reached between the veterinary services continues. The decision of the interdepartmental commission extended export quotas for export of steers and lambs from the country until December 24 of this year.
