The Ministry of Agriculture does not know how many veterinarians the country has shortage of

As it turned out, it was because of the fact that in Kazakhstan to date there was no standard workload per veterinarian. That is why, as Askar Zhakupbayev, Chairman of the Committee for Veterinary Control and Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture, admitted, there is no specific understanding of how many specialists are actually needed, reports World of NAN.

"We always say that there are not enough veterinarians, but there is no standard for the country. Whether there is a shortage or not is purely a subjective assessment," the head of the committee said.

However, the speaker assured, that the department intends to solve this issue in the very near future.

"When clarifying the budget, we asked for money. It will be 046 program - to determine the standards and methodologies. There will be a competition and defined standards of workload per veterinarian, "- said Askar Zhakupbayev.

That, according to officials, should clarify the real picture of staff shortages.

Meanwhile, according to the representative of the Ministry of Agriculture there are about 15 thousand people engaged in preventive work in cattle breeding. Today, according to the local executive bodies, there is a shortage of 500 veterinarians.
