Interdepartmental Commission on Foreign Trade Policy decided to extend the zero rate of the export duty on exports of wool and cut the export duty on cattle hides by 50%, World of NAN reports referring to the press service of the Government.
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, the country annually produces about 40,000 tons of sheep wool, of which thin and semi-fine wool undergo primary processing, which is only 20% of total production. Cancellation of the export duty will increase the income from sales of sheared wool directly to farmers by 20-25% and to processing companies - by 10%.
Also the decision of the IDC approved the reduction of the export customs duty on cattle hides from 200 to 100 euros per 1 tonne and the abolition of export customs duties on small ruminants hides until December 31 of this year.
At present, there is a situation where, with an annual increase in the number of cattle, low export volumes and demand in the domestic market, the volume of unprocessed residual hides is increasing. Specifically, in 2020, compared to 2019, the increase was 406,000, or 15.7%. It is expected that the reduction of export customs duties on unprocessed hides of farm animals will create market demand for them, producers and procurers will be interested in improving their quality.
