1.4 billion tenge will be allocated for the preservation of Kazakh Tazy and Tobet

The Majilis plenary session today passed a bill "On amendments and additions to some legislative acts of the Republic of Kazakhstan on the preservation and reproduction of national breeds of dogs". It aims to preserve the tazy and tobet. This will require 1.4 billion tenge. This amount was approved on October 18, 2022 at the meeting of the Republican Budget Commission.

"Tazy and Tobet are indigenous Kazakh breeds of dogs, are a national pride, a national treasure of the Kazakh people, and its cultural and historical heritage. These breeds are linked to our history, and their origin goes all the way back to ancient times," said Majilisman Amerkhan Rakhimzhanov.

According to him, state support will be provided by financing activities in the field of preservation and reproduction of Kazakh dog breeds, including the National Center. Public associations working in this area will receive a state procurement of social services to promote activities in this area. The bill also stipulates a norm for scientific research in the field of conservation and reproduction of Kazakh dog breeds, which will be carried out by scientific organizations of Kazakhstan.

As noted by the deputy, preservation of Kazakh dog breeds requires an extensive legal and organizational approach that would increase the effectiveness of state regulation of the sphere of protection and reproduction of Kazakh dog breeds.

"Today there is a trend not only of deterioration of gene pool of Kazakh dog breeds, but also the threat of their complete extinction in many regions of the country. The main reasons for the unfavorable situation with Kazakh dog breeds is the lack of scientific research on assessing the state of the gene pool of Kazakh dog breeds, compiling their genetic profile, as well as the lack of state support," said the Mazhilisman.

The new national center will train experts and specialists in breeding, as well as breeding national breeds of dogs while preserving their work qualities. Exhibitions and shows are planned.
