New routes for agricultural products are being developed by the EAEU

Members of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission at a regular meeting considered a report prepared jointly with the Eurasian Development Bank on proposals for the creation of a common commodity distribution network of the EAEU, World of NAN reports with reference to the EEC.

It is expected that the common network will contribute to increasing the export of agricultural products to the markets of third countries.

“Issues related to logistics and transportation both within the Union and outside it are now becoming more and more relevant, since as a result of numerous restrictions over the past few months, routes and commodity flows have changed dramatically,” Artak Kamalyan noted.

The report identifies the main trade routes for agricultural products and food, the level of qualified storage in the Union countries, the need to improve the agro-logistic infrastructure.

In addition, problems have been identified that increase costs and reduce the competitiveness of allied suppliers in cross-border trade in agricultural products and food. These are low throughput and a long time for manual verification of the compliance of documents at individual checkpoints, high transaction costs, the need for secondary confirmations, verifications, paper documents, and others.

Artak Kamalyan stressed the relevance of creating equal conditions for producers of all the Union states and presented proposals for simplifying the procedure for registering goods being moved.

To this end, it is advisable to carry out phased work to establish common standards for mandatory digitized technical documentation and electronic document management, to unify standard requirements for the technical equipment of customs infrastructure elements at the customs border of the Member States, to implement and develop an all-Union system of traceability of goods, to increase the level of use of technical means of control , the creation of new instruments of state support and concessional lending for the implementation of joint infrastructure projects in the Eurasian space and other measures.

Members of the EEC Board expressed their common opinion on the need for the Commission, together with the Member States, to continue work in this direction.
