The variety was bred by Kyzylorda breeders. It took scientists 17 years, and the culture was called by the Kazakh name "Aisara," World of NAN reports citing 24.kz.
This rice is a valuable and sought-after subspecies of "indica" in the world. This species grows only in the tropics and subtropics. And in countries with temperate and sharply continental climates, the plant does not take root.
"Our scientists have been working for years to ensure that the crop takes root in our weather conditions. We are proud of our development. This type of rice is four times more expensive on the international market compared to local seeds," said Aydos Zhalbyrov, head of the department at the KazNII Rice Research Institute.
The grain is 100% vitreous and has a high protein content and meets international quality standards. According to the developers, thanks to the new variety, on average, it is possible to collect up to 80 centners of grain from each hectare. It requires less irrigation water. Now the breeders are working on the accumulation of seed stock of "Aisara".
